I started the blog SSA or Gay about 18 months ago. It started at a time when I was experiencing a low point in my life. I was experiencing some health issues, and with that came a bout of depression. I was reminded of how alone I felt in life, and I needed something to pull me out of the funk.

I started writing my memories of growing up--particularly the memories of growing up gay and trying to hold on to my faith. I posted the stories on my blog, not expecting much response, yet I received some positive comments and encouragement from strangers who found and shared my thoughts. This writing became a healing force for me in many ways.

My first 12 chapters of my stories ended when I turned 12 and was ordained a Deacon in the LDS Church. I feel like that is a good ending point for the first part of my story.

I have received numerous emails from readers suggesting I should work on publishing my story so that I can reach a different audience, I am in the process of doing that. I am revising the story, and taking it from a first-person perspective to a third-person narrative. I am adding more details and plot twists to make the story more compelling. I hope to have that revision finished within the next three months so that I can send it to some publishers.

In the mean time, I will be writing my memories of middle school, Boy Scouts, and the LDS Young Men's program. Those years brought a lot of angst and conflict. I should have my first chapter posted by the end of the week.

Thanks for joining me at my new website.
